On September 18.-19., 2017, all members of the project ReKKs team, officials and scientists from Kazakhstan and Russia met in Astana to discuss the forthcoming project activities and ensure the future fruitful collaboration.
In May 2018, the first joint research expedition in Kostanay region was performed by the ReKKS WP 5 and WP 6 team members.
To evaluate the N-availability and N-efficiency of liquid fertilizers two neighbouring fields under different management but same use and fertilization were locally labelled with 15-N species of ammonia and nitrate. The label was applied to the seed furrow after seeding and fertilization. Hereby three different forms of fertilizers in liquid and solid form were investigated in triplicates.
The second sampling campaign for completion of our north-south gradient took place from the 01.05.-28.05.2018. The subprojects SP 4 and SP 5 started in the south at our project partners in Lasovoe, Zhaltir, Shortandy and ended their work in the north in Yasnaya Polyana.
During the field campaign in Mai 2018 we met Dr. A. Töws, director of the German Agricultural Centre in Chaglinka (Akmola). We had a tour through the centre and interesting talks about our project and the tasks and works of the DAZ.
In the arid steppe regions of Kazakhstan and southwestern Siberia, the problems of soil degradation, climate change, and change of land use necessitates innovations for a sustainable use of agricultural resources. By a distinguished combination of research, development, and implementation, the project aims at developing innovative, sustainable, and climate-adapted agricultural concepts and to support infrastructure for an information and advisory system, based on an already perfectly established cooperation between scientists, German companies as well as local land users and other interest representatives.
